Google search is one of the greatest sources of new customers for any business.
Why?
Because people are actively searching for products and services to solve their problems.
And in all likelihood, your competitors' traffic looks something like this picture above.
So, how do you - a founder with a brand new business - start capturing some of this gold mine too?
Simple: find out where your competitors are capturing it, and start marketing your business in the same place.
To find out where your competitors are getting this traffic from, we’ll use SEMrush Competitor Analysis.
In “Domain Overview”, simply type in the domain of one of your competitors and click “Search.”
Then, scroll down to “Referring Domains.”
These are all of the websites who link to your competitor and send traffic their way every month.
You’ll find that many of these referring domains are directories that list your competitors as the solution to a specific problem - you need to get on that list.
You’ll find others to be articles that directly compare your competitors and list their pros and cons - you need to be added to that comparison.
You’ll find that some of these links come from guest posts that your competitors have added to high-traffic and high-authority websites - you need to submit a guest post too.
This is an essential strategy for 99% of founders.
Not only will it help you compete with your competitors for traffic right away, but it will also help you jumpstart your SEO efforts too by driving up your authority score.
